Exterior Insulation

Protect your home from heat loss, moisture, and outdoor conditions

Exterior insulation is one of the most effective ways to improve energy efficiency, comfort, and long-term durability in homes and cottages across Parry Sound, Muskoka, and Central Ontario. By insulating the outside of the building envelope, heat loss is reduced, drafts are eliminated, and interior temperatures remain more stable year-round.

Exterior insulation is commonly used during renovations, additions, or siding upgrades and is ideal for both full-time residences and seasonal cottages.

What Is Exterior Insulation?

Exterior insulation is installed on the outside of the home, directly over the structural wall assembly and beneath exterior finishes such as siding, stone, or metal cladding. This approach creates a continuous thermal layer that wraps the building and reduces thermal bridging through studs and framing.

By insulating from the outside, the entire wall system works more efficiently and is better protected from outdoor temperature swings.

Benefits of Exterior Insulation

Exterior insulation offers many advantages, including:

  • Reduced heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer

  • Elimination of cold spots and drafts

  • Improved moisture control and condensation resistance

  • Enhanced indoor comfort throughout the home

  • Increased energy efficiency and lower utility bills

Because the insulation layer is continuous, exterior insulation is especially effective in older homes that may lack proper wall insulation.
